All My Bags Are Packed...

...I'm ready to go...

So you may surmise by the fact that I am sitting down writing this post that I have not as yet had the baby.  The contractions were pretty consistent for a few hours last night...until I went to bed.  Then they slowed down, and I'm not even sure if I had some while I slept.  Each time I got up I would have one, and then maybe 2-3 more when I went back to bed.  I've had some this morning, but they are not that consistent so far.  I got the distinct impression that if I get up and move around, it will get things started.  So I am going to take that and run with it.  I'm eating breakfast, and then I will commence the movement, baby.

As I was getting up this morning, I received a phone call from a very dear friend of mine who I haven't heard from in over 2 years (Old Man Marv, for those of you in the know).  I'm so grateful for a Heavenly Father who knows exactly what I need; the call lifted my spirits immensely...I was really discouraged, especially last night, and now I feel so much happier.

And Ryan, if I have the baby on your birthday, that is soooooooo not my fault!  :)

I've been thinking about you all day! I'm curious how your contractions have felt, pain wise? Have they been painful? Or just uncomfortable?

I have contractions all the time, at the most they are just uncomfortable and make me have to use the bathroom!

Having never started real labor on my own, I don't really know the rules. Are you supposed to go into the hospital when the contractions start really hurting? Or just when they're regular?

Keep in touch!

Well, some are stronger than others...so some are just uncomfortable and some are a little painful.

As for when to go to the hospital, good question. The contractions have to be more regular and closer together, and at that point, they will start hurting a lot more. I think every doctor/midwife has a differing viewpoint on when to go in. I personally would like to go in earlier than perhaps they would like me to, but I'm afraid the baby will come really quickly once things get started.

Yeah, having had 4 kids already, I'm afraid that if I wait for the contractions to REALLY hurt, then it might be too late to get to the hospital!

Did "old man Marv" tell you how he got your phone number? He called here almost 3 weeks ago (Sep. 30 per my day planner). That was the night before I left for Oregon for 5 days, so I'm glad he called when he did. I gave him your number and an update on your growing family. Keeping in touch with old friends always brightens my day.
