A bit of a rant...

Okay, so I would just like to state for the record that I think the "AVERAGE" pregnancy weight gain stuff that they pull on you at the doctor's office is a load of crap. If you gain only 25-30 lbs per pregnancy, than that's awesome for you, and I applaud you for it...I do wish I could say the same. Maybe my body just needs to gain more weight because I'm naturally pretty thin--I really don't know. What I do know is that I can't find anything I want to eat during pregnancy that is healthy for me!! Add to that the almost inability to exercise and you have weight gain. Can you tell it's a sore spot with me? Anyway, it seems to me that from talking to many other women who have had babies, the average weight gain seems to be higher than 30 lbs and in some cases, much more than that. I'm really just doing the best I can with a body that is not my own right now. Sorry about the rant; like I said, it's a sore spot, and I try to do my best. I'm trying to eat healthier, but eating healthy is something that I struggle with even when I'm not pregnant. I am trying to walk more and get myself and the girls out for some much needed fresh air and exercise, so hopefully that will help.

Hang in there Kerry. Just keep doing the best you can. I used to have a neighbor who was very health savvy, she bought organic foods and worked out regularly. And she gained 50 pounds with one of her pregnancies. I guess that's just the way it ends up some times.

Thanks, Carolyn. It's just a tough thing for me to deal with...I like being in control of my body, and you just can't do that in pregnancy. It's give and take, right? :) The result is worth it in the end, but I do worry each pregnancy about this topic.

Hey! I kind of got out of blogging for a while, but I was really excited to see your big news. Congrats! I don't know if you've looked at my blog the last day or two, but I'm preggo too! So you didn't divulge the sex of the baby, do you know? And I'm with you on the weight gain. The past two pregnancies I've told myself beforehand that "this pregnancy is going to be different! I'm going to be so healthy and only gain 30 pounds!" Then I actually get pregnant and that all goes out the window. I totally forget that the only things that sound good are ramen noodles, and ramen noodles. Oh well, one can dream, right?

Haha, yeah, for real, Rachel. Food has sound good in pregnancy or you'll just throw it right back up. I remember I spent all day slow-cooking a Thai peanut butter entree, sat down to eat it with Braden, took ONE WHIFF and was like, "Oh, I can't eat this." I was so mad!

Congrats on your pregnancy! We are having a boy. I just sent you a more detailed email about what's been going on with us.
